Being a guest student
Do you want to learn something new - like to participate in continuing education without enrolling in a degree programme - or simply like to get a taste of university life? As a guest student, you can attend selected courses – even without a university entrance qualification (e.g. A-levels) - allowing you to get to know the university and its study programmes.
Which courses are open to you?
As a guest student, you can attend up to 12 weekly contact hours of regular courses at h_da. Attendance is subject to the lecturer’s approval of the requested course. The course catalogue provides an overview of the courses offered at h_da. You can also apply to attend several lectures.
When and how to submit your application?
You can submit your application for guest student status directly via our my.h-da university portal until the start of a semester (1 to 31 March for the summer semester and 1 to 30 September for the winter semester). You will find the individual courses in our course catalogue, which is always available from the beginning of March or the beginning of September for the coming semester. The relevant faculty will check whether there are still places available for guest students in the requested course(s). You will receive feedback on whether your application has been approved no later than 4 weeks after the start of lectures.
Is a guest student enrolled at h_da?
As a guest student, you are not enrolled as a student at h_da, which means that you cannot earn any credits. In addition, guest students are not entitled to student benefits such as the semester pass or library card. This also means that you cannot take advantage of the discounted offers in the canteens.
How long is guest student status valid?
Guest student status is valid for one semester.
How much does guest student status cost?
The fee for guest student status is currently €100 (amount determined in accordance with the Hessian administrative cost regulations). You will receive a payment request with our confirmation. You will receive a request for payment with our confirmation.
Are there any special admission requirements?
No A-levels or other university entrance qualifications are required to apply. There are therefore no formal entry requirements.
How to register in my.h-da
Step 1: Select "Gasthören" in my.h-da.de
Step 2: Register
Step 3: Submit your application ("Jetzt bewerben")
Step 4: Under "Studiengangswunsch" please select the degree "Gasthören"
Step 5: Select your subject and enter the number or name from the course catalogue, up to 12 semester hours per week in total are possible. In this step, you can also add another application for guest lectures and select another lecture of your choice.
Step 6: In the last step, check your details and submit the application electronically.
