Bachelor
A Bachelor's degree is a first academic qualification that enables you to start a career as well as take up a Master's degree programme.
German certificate
The prerequisite for a Bachelor's degree programme is a higher education entrance qualification (HZB), to be proven by
- higher education entrance qualification
- Fachhochschulreife consisting of a practical and a school-based part - HZB date is the date of the last part obtained
- previous education recognised by the Hessian Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs as equivalent to the Fachhochschulreife
- a successfully passed higher education entrance examination for vocationally qualified persons (German)
- the master craftsman's examination and comparable qualifications for advanced vocational training (German)
Detailed information on obtaining a HZB valid in Hessen can be found on the website of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture (German).
Certificates obtained outside Hesse
A certificate obtained outside of Hesse must be recognised by the State Education Authority (German) if it is not obvious that you are eligible to study in Hesse. The relevant certificate must be uploaded as part of the online application. The school-based part of a Fachhochschulreife is recognised as soon as the practical part has been proven.
