Content

It is impossible to imagine our everyday life without information technology. It plays a major role in all key technologies and is therefore a degree programme with excellent career prospects. Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences offers computer science in two dual variants. In addition to KITS, the Bachelor's programme offers the alternative KoSI (standard variant). During their studies, students are employed by an IT company.

Software is becoming increasingly complex. It must not only work on PCs, but also on smartphones and tablets. Networking the end devices brings many advantages for the user, but also brings risks. Hacker attacks endanger the security of private individuals, companies and states.
In the cooperative degree programme IT Security (KITS), students learn to develop security measures for IT applications - not only for company networks, computer centres and the classic PC, but also for smartphones, tablets and the Internet. Thematically, the programme focuses on encryption, data protection and IT forensics. More detailed information on the study programme can be found at the  website of the Faculty of Computer Science.

Perspective

After successful completion of the study of computer science dual (KITS), an employment in the following fields of work is possible:

  • Development, introduction and support of databases and networks
  • Securing and monitoring of IT infrastructure
  • Consulting and training.

Building on the Bachelor's degree, the following Master's programmes are possible:

Computer Science - Master of Science
Computer Science - Master of Science (dual)

Structure

A dual study programme supplements study events at the university with practical phases in the company and thus offers valuable insights into professional practice in addition to the scientific university education. Compared to graduates of regular courses of study, dual students acquire a higher degree of manual skills and key qualifications. In addition, the dual study programmes have excellent student success and transfer rates. The company remuneration during the study period enables financial independence and concentration on the studies. You can find a detailed presentation of the study contents in the module manual (German).
