Content

Rapid technological changes and digitisation processes have a major impact on the strategic orientation of companies. As experts in handling data, information and knowledge, Information Scientists accompany the digitisation of economy and society and thus contribute significantly to future and innovation processes. The Master's programme in Information Science at the h_da qualifies its students for demanding management, design, research and development tasks. Graduates are professionals in the machine processing of data and information and in the knowledge of human processing of data, information and knowledge.

Perspective

The Master's degree prepares graduates for managerial positions in the private sector and higher service in public administration, particularly in the fields of IT, media and libraries.

It enables academic work and qualifies graduates for a doctorate. At the h_da there are prospects for this at the inter-university Doctoral Center for Applied Computer Science, in which the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and the professors of the programme are involved.

After a Master's degree, there is the possibility of a doctorate. The central contact point is the Graduate School.

Structure

The Master's programme offers a technical-scientific deepening of the competences and skills for the preparation and analysis of data and information and the human processing of these. In the first two semesters of the 4-semester course of study, practice-oriented project modules take up a large part of the programme alongside specialist modules. A scientific practical project is followed by the Master's thesis, which can be written at the university, in a company or another suitable institution. A detailed presentation of the course contents can be found in the module manual (German). The Information Science (M.Sc.) programme can also be studied in a dual system.
