You can find the start of the courses and other important dates of the semester under semester dates. The introductory events specific to the degree programme usually take place in the first weeks of studies.
We have compiled initial, important information regarding the start of studies on this page.
You should already be familiar with the university portal my.h-da from your application. After enrolment, you will need to activate your student account in order to access important functions, e.g. retrieving certificates or changing contact details.
To activate it, you will need your matriculation number and your master password, which will be displayed in your application account on my.h-da.de. Log in to the application portal one last time and when you have found the master password, follow the steps to activate the account.

Is always displayed in the application portal and is required to activate your student account. You should keep your master password in a safe place. It allows you to reset your account if necessary. |

Own password |
Set when you activate your account. With this password and in most cases with your user ID, which you will receive with your welcome email, you will immediately have access to the university portal and other applications in your degree programme. |

Matriculation number |
You will receive this in your welcome email. It is best to remember this short number straight away, as it is important for most organisational matters during your studies. |
Your student e-mail address will be generated automatically and sent to you with your welcome e-mail. You can access your mailbox at webmail.stud.h-da.de. In the h_da tutorials you can find out how to set up your student mailbox on your mobile devices.
The nationwide semester ticket is available to all regular students. The ticket is digital, is always valid for the official period of the respective semester and must be reactivated before the start of the semester. On the AStA website you will find all the information you need to activate the ticket - have a good journey!
The introductory events are specific to the degree programme and provide initial, very important organisational information for first-semester students.
In addition to the introductory events in the degree programmes, there are central events for all first-semester students. These provide a good opportunity to get to know the central services and offers for students and to network beyond your own degree programme:

At the start of the semester, the StuB team at h_da offers a campus tour. This is ideal for getting your bearings on the central Darmstadt campus before the semester starts. The tour includes the central buildings C10, C11, C19, C23 and D10 and takes place on the following dates

Reflect on your own study goals, become aware of your ideas and expectations and get to know yourself better as a student: the handout from the Central Student Advisory Service helps you plan your studies.
MatheFit is an additional offer of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and consists of the three modules Maths Pre-Course, Maths Learning Center and Maths Intensive Day. The preliminary course serves to make it easier for first-year students to start their studies. The learning centre and the intensive day offer the possibility of support in mathematical subjects beyond the lectures and tutorials.
With the ITT (international team of tutors of the Studierendenwerk) you can get to know Darmstadt and new people.
In the preliminary physics course, you brush up on the basics from your school years that you will need for your studies. The physics pre-course is a voluntary additional offer from your university. Please decide for yourself whether you need a refresher. A refresher is recommended for the following degree programmes: Automotive Engineering, Chemical and Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, Building Systems Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Optotechnology and Image Processing, Sound and Music Production, Environmental Engineering.
