Studienkolleg (Preparatory College)

If you have obtained a school-leaving certificate in your home country that entitles you to study there but is not recognised as a direct higher education entrance qualification (HZB) in Germany - a so-called indirect HZB - you must complete a Studienkolleg and take the Feststellungsprüfung before starting your studies. If you have a direct HZB, it is not possible to attend the preparatory course.

The Studienkolleg of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences takes place at the Studienkolleg Darmstadt, a central institution that offers the Studienkolleg for several universities in the region.

Application period

for a winter semester: mid-March to 15 April each year
for a summer semester: beginning of September to 15 October of a year.

German language skills for the Studienkolleg

TestDaF (German as a Foreign Language Test): the result in each of the subtests must be at least level 3.
ÖSD certicate level B1
Goethe Certificate B1: major German Language Diploma
telc German B1 university certificate
German Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs – Level DSD I

Admission test

After successful preliminary examination of your application documents and forwarding of your data by uni-assist to the university, you will receive an invitation from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences to take the entrance test at the Studienkolleg. Information on the entrance test can be found on the Studienkolleg website.

Transition to a degree course once the Feststellungsprüfung has been passed

Once you have passed the assessment exam, you may apply for any degree course at h_da that your certified exam results permit within your chosen field.

Passing the Feststellungsprüfung at another Studienkolleg:

Please apply via uni-assist within the deadlines for foreign certificates. If you do not yet have your certificate, please upload proof of participation in the preparatory course.

The Studienkolleg Darmstadt only offers T and G courses! If you would like to attend a W-course at another Studienkolleg in order to start an economics degree programme at h_da, please apply to our university via uni-assist after you have passed the assessment test.
