Research Days in recent years

Research Day 2013

In 2013, the Day of Research took place on November 20 on the Darmstadt campus in the new lecture hall building C19. The general topic was biotechnology and health. The program included a series of lectures on this topic:

  • Transglutaminases as targets for drug development? - Dr. Christian Büchold, Head of Organic Synthesis, Zedira GmbH, Darmstadt;
  • Innovative solutions for diagnostic challenges - Dr. Markus Böhl, Head of R&D New Technologies, R-Biopharm AG, Darmstadt;
  • The increase in the performance of the brain through medication: Curse or blessing? - Prof. Dr. Nicola Erny, University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, Department of Social Sciences;
  • New ways to combat the hospital germ Pseudomonas aeruginosa - Prof. Dr. Franz-Josef Meyer-Almes, University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology;

and was followed by a Science Slam of the cooperative doctoral students of the h_da. The event was accompanied by a poster exhibition of current research projects.

Research Day 2019

On November 26, 2019, the Research Day took place in the large lecture hall of the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology under the motto "Digitisation, Sustainable Development and the Role of the universities of applied sciences". Guests were Prof. Dr. Klaus Michael Ahrend and Lord Mayor Jochen Partsch on "Digital City Darmstadt and Sustainable Development" as well as Keynote Minister Angela Dorn (HMWK) on the topic "Contribution of HAWs to Sustainable Development" and as a juror for the award of the Science Prize of the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt 2019.

 

 

Research Day 2018

On November 13, 2018, the Research Day 2018 took place in the new House of Research of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The program covered a wide range of topics:

Research Day 2017

The Research Day 2017 took place on 14 November. On this day the PhD Center Applied Computer Science was opened. Furthermore, the Research Prize of HAW Hessen and the Science Prize 2017 of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences were awarded.

 

 

Research Day 2016

On 6 December 2016 the Research Day 2016 took place. This Research Day was dedicated to the topic "Research networking and topic clusters". The focus was once again directed inwards and in this offered all researchers at the h_da concentrated space for information, discussion, exchange and networking, especially against the background of the current innovations in the field of research and research support.

 

 

Research Day 2015

On 1 December 2015 the Research Day 2015 took place. The day was dedicated to the topic "Research at the h_da - Quo vadis? This year, the focus was directed inwards and offered researchers at the h_da a concentrated space for information, discussion, exchange and networking.

 

 

Research Day 2014

On 04 November 2014 the Research Day 2014 took place. Once again a varied programme was offered. For the first time, there was a networking exchange where the possibilities for research-oriented theses and collaboration in research and development with cooperating research institutions were presented, as well as the traditional poster exhibition of current research projects.
The series of lectures was dedicated to the topic of IT security with a focus on current issues concerning secure communication. The day was rounded off with the Science Slam of the cooperative doctoral students of the h_da.

 

 

Research Day 2012

The Day of Research 2012 took place on November 20 at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt on the Darmstadt campus. The motto of the event was "Research for Sustainability". The program included a presentation of posters from current research projects, guided tours of research laboratory facilities, the presentation of doctoral projects by young scientists and interdisciplinary lectures on the topic of sustainability research:

Research Day 2010

On November 02, the Research Day 2010 took place at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt. The motto of the day was "Research at Universities of Applied Sciences - in a balancing act with teaching? ". Besides a poster exhibition presenting current research projects, lectures were held on this topic:

  • The Role of Universities of Applied Sciences in the Higher Education System - The Perspective of the German Science Council - Dr. Karsten Kumoll, Wissenschaftsrat Köln
  • When research becomes teaching and teaching becomes research Research for and by young academics - Prof. Dr. Bernd Jörs, Department of Media, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
  • Research in courses - is that possible? - Prof. Dr. Bernhard Humm, Department of Computer Science, University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt
  • Publicly funded research at the university - Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joachim Ohser, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt

Research Day 2009

On November 3, 2009 the Research Day 2009 took place at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt. A large poster exhibition provided information about numerous current research projects. More than 120 visitors attended the lectures and took the opportunity to look behind the scenes in the research areas of robotics and optotechnology. The lecture series was held under the motto "Research in cooperation with commercial enterprises".

 

Research Day 2008

On November 3, 2008, a Research Day was offered for the seventh time in a row. "Research International" was the year's motto for the specialist presentations. In addition to exciting presentations, a poster show provided information about the numerous and diverse R&D activities at the h_da. In addition, the opportunity to exchange experiences was actively used. The following lectures were held:

Research Day 2007

The motto of the Research Day 2007 in November was "Climate Change", and the presentations were

Research Day 2006

On October 17, 2006, the ZFE organized a Research Day for the fifth time in a row. "We are breaking new ground" was the motto. Current, trend-setting research projects were presented under this motto. In addition to exciting presentations, a poster show provided information about the numerous and varied R&D activities at the h_da and also offered the opportunity for a lively exchange of experiences.
